Women in Engineering and Science Program & Excellence in Engineering Endowment, KSU

This $400,000 endowed fund was established in 2004 by E. Eugene Carter specifically to provide a permanent source of funding for students who have obtained student loans through the Federal Stafford Student Loan program and who have graduated from the Kansas State University College of Engineering. Awardees will be preferably a student “who is female, an immigrant or a person whose parents were immigrants, an underrepresented minority in the College of Engineering, or a first generation to college student.” Preference was to go to a first or second year full-time student who met the above criteria. Selection is to be in the spring of the year when funds are available for awarding upon the recipient’s graduation.

Various students have received the award from this endowed fund and will continue to have their Federal direct loans repaid upon graduation.
